The Corona virus pandemic is greatly affecting Ingwavuma. They, like the UK are in lockdown which means that all schools and nurseries are shut. This greatly impacts the children’s access to food as school or nursery is where they get their main, and sometimes only, meal of the day.

Action for Ingwavuma recently made an appeal for donations to help fund food for children most in need. We are very grateful for the donations as this has meant that we have been able to fund some food for these children.
The Coronavirus pandemic is also greatly affecting Fancy Stitch as they have no tourist trade to rely on and local businesses are no longer buying their produce, which means the income of the ladies of Ingwavuma is also drying up.
Action for Ingwavuma are doing all we can to help the area at this difficult time, however as a charity who fundraises through group meetings, such as those of the Women’s Institutes, coffee mornings and Open Gardens our income stream will dry up. If you are able to help by making a contribution to the charity so we can continue to help Ingwavuma, here are the details below:
- making a payment direct to our bank account: Barclays, Action for Ingwavuma, sort code 20.02.06, account number 30911240 …and please give your name as a reference.
- or you can donate via our website actionforingwavuma.co.uk
- and of course, you can send us a cheque made payable to “Action for Ingwavuma”. to 20 Old Silk Mill, Tring, Hertfordshire, HP23 5EF
.
We will continue to keep you informed of the effects of the charity’s involvement in the impoverished region of Africa that we support.
